Angie Monroe

She taught herself to play guitar beginning at age 12. Angie has been back in Lubbock almost 2 years after moving to Los Angeles where she played music for many years, headlining such venues as the House of Blues, Hardrock Cafe, Starfest, Fanfest, Country Star Restaurant at Universal Studios City Walk. She hosted one of the hottest jams in Los Angeles for many years, having such people as Hoyt Axton sharing her stage and playing her guitar, Paul Marshall (from the group Strawberry Alarm Clock and successful songwriter), Peter Holland (from the Grass Roots and Tina Turner), Colin Cameron (bass player with many gold and platinum albums), just to name a few of the major artists that she has worked with and that shared her stage. Due to a serious injury and family crisis, she moved back to Lubbock. In addition to various bookings, she and Joe Time host the Wednesday Night Songwriter Showcase/Open Mic at the Conference Cafe - 3216 4th Street (NE Corner Strip Mall next to Joe's Jumbo Burger and adjacent to Whiskey Dix) in Lubbock. Since its inception, and enduring a short change of venue, the showcase has become very successful in Lubbock, drawing some of Lubbock's most renowned songwriters and musicians as well as newcomers to the business. She is of the strong belief that God has endowed her with a gift of song and that gift should be shared. One of the many ways that she shares her talent is by creating an atmosphere where others can bestow their talents among each other in a friendly networking setting where the seasoned professionals perform side by side with the newcomers to the business helping them groom their talents for their future.
